Mrs. Debbie Davis

Mrs. Davis has been ministering in the Elementary School at CCCS for over 28 years. She was blessed with the opportunity to teach students with learning differences for 22 years.  Her experience in the classroom and as Instruction Support Coordinator makes her uniquely qualified to help administer the Elementary students and teachers as Principal. Having enjoyed the privilege of watching her own two children grow up at CCCS, Mrs. Davis has a passion to see each student thrive and become successful.

Mrs. Christy Leonard

Mrs. Leonard has been coming to CCCS every school day for most of her lifetime. Not only is she part of our staff now, but she also attended school here!  Mrs. Leonard is credentialed through National University, and completed a decade of substitute teaching with the Downey Unified School District prior to answering the Lord’s call to Christian education and coming on board here at CCCS. She taught 5th grade for 12 years and is passionate about students receiving a rich education with a Christian world view. She currently serves as the Elementary Assistant Principal. 




Miss Stephanie Brito

Miss Brito holds her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies Multidisciplinary from Biola University. She has enjoyed teaching throughout the past 7 years and also served as a teacher in the Pre-School here at CCCS for 2 years. Miss Brito is excited to continue ministering to the elementary students in the Calvary Support Program. Her desire for her students is that they would know God's love for them and experience it every day in her classroom.  Believing God has a plan for each child that walks through her door, Miss Brito is blessed to be able to be a part of that plan.

Mrs. Lisa Cerebe

Mrs. Cerebe holds an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State Fullerton.  She began her love for teaching in 2000 as a substitute teacher at CCCS.  Mrs. Cerebe has 16 years of experience teaching and is looking forward to continue using her gift of teaching for a second year in the elementary school at CCCS.  While attending church at CCD, she developed a passion for missions and has taught in Uganda for a summer.  Mrs. Cerebe has a passion for teaching but most importantly showing her students the love of Christ.

Mrs. Pam Ellis

After completing her education, Mrs. Ellis set out on a path guided by the Lord to teach children in His ways.  Mrs. Ellis' passion is to help students achieve their full potential academically and spiritually. She has worked with children for over thirty years and it is her heart’s desire to teach children in the ways of the Lord through God’s Word and prayer. Pam has experienced God’s healing hand in her own life and is part of the women’s prayer group. She is currently one of our 2nd Grade teachers. 

Mrs. Kristie Elsasser

Kristie Elsasser is one of our Kindergarten teachers. She is a dedicated teacher that strives to help every student entrusted to her to achieve positive, spiritual, mental, and physical growth. Mrs. Elsasser desires to grow as a professional educator so that she will always be equipped to greatly impact her students in achieving Godly excellence. She has always enjoyed working with the little ones in our Elementary School, and considers it a privilege and a joy to work at Calvary Chapel Christian School.

Mrs. Celeste Figueroa

This is Mrs. Figueroa’s third year teaching one of the Kindergarten classes here at CCCS. She has also served our school as a substitute teacher and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies as well as her teaching credential from Hope International University. She enjoys serving at church and is eager to be pursuing God’s calling on her life working with little ones. Her desire is to help raise strong, little leaders who will thrive academically. She is privileged to be working at CCCS and considers it an honor to serve at such an amazing school.

Miss Kiley Gilham

Miss Gilham attended Calvary Chapel Christian School from Kindergarten through 12th Grade and graduated in 2014. She then moved to Arizona and attended Grand Canyon University where she received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Educational Studies. Miss Gilham has served at CCCS as a substitute teacher and has spent a considerable amount of time volunteering in classrooms and assisting teachers as well.  She feels beyond blessed to continue teaching 2nd grade at her Alma Mater.

Mr. Nick Guerra

Nick Guerra began his teaching career in 2014 teaching medical science classes in public schools and continuation high schools. He became an EMT in 2007 and went on to get his Paramedic License through UCLA Center for Pre-Hospital Care. He is happily married for 10 years and has 3 wonderful children, who all attending CCCS. Mr. Guerra is joining our CCCS elementary staff this year as one of our 6th grade teachers. He will be instructing the students in Reading, Spelling, and English.

Mr. Andrew Hernandez

Andrew Hernandez is an alumnus of CCCS.  He holds a Music in Worship Bachelor of Science degree from Biola University, with an emphasis in Piano Performance.  At CCCS, he played in the Worship Band, the Marching/Pep Band and in the Jazz Band. Andrew has been a worship leader for many years and has helped train young worship teams in the LA area.  He has taught private music lessons in piano, guitar, bass, drums and saxophone for over 10 years. In addition to overseeing the High School and Junior High worship teams,  he is the director for the Elementary Band and JH/HS Band and teaches the contemporary piano/guitar class as well. 

Mrs. Cindy Kemblowski

Mrs. Kemblowski attended Cerritos College where she earned an Associate of Arts Degree. Mrs. Kemblowski enjoys teaching one of our 5th Grade classes, and has had the pleasure of watching her students grow since 2002. Her desire to work with molding young lives has inspired her husband to join our staff teaching high school boys strength and conditioning. Mrs. & Mr. Kemblowski have a daughter who attended CCCS K4-12th grade and graduated in 2008. In her free time, Mrs. Kemblowski enjoys gardening and hiking where she is able to spend time with The Lord.

Coach Devin Loreto

Coach Devin Loreto is an alumna of CCCS, class of 2004. Currently she serves as the girls PE Teacher, Elementary PE Teacher, HS Girl’s Soccer Coach, and Track & Field Assistant Coach. Coach Loreto graduated from CSULB in 2014 with her B.A. in Recreation and Leisure Studies, as well as a certificate in Non-profit Management and Therapeutic Recreation. She has worked for the City of Downey for over ten years providing various program activities and sporting events.

Miss Elyssa Manacmul

Miss Manacmul is an alumna of CCCS, attending from 7th grade through 12th grade. She graduated from California State University, Long Beach, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies. After graduating, Miss Manacmul began teaching at CCCS in Jr. High and coached the Volleyball Team as well.  She is currently attending Hope International University where she is working on earning her Masters in Education. Miss Manacmul currently teaches 4th grade. 

Dr. Kate Rivas

Kate Rivas is excited to be working alongside our CCCS families for her seventh year. She has taught AP English, Honors English, and College Prep English. After earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child Development, a Master's of Science in Counseling, a Doctorate in Education, a California clear teaching credential, and an administrative services credential, Mrs. Rivas gained an impressive fourteen years of teaching experience with the Downey Unified School District. She currently teaches 4th grade.


Mrs. Lydia Trejo

Mrs. Trejo is very excited and blessed to join the elementary school team at CCCS. She holds her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Development.  After working in the public school system for five years, Mrs. Trejo began serving as a substitute teacher for CCCS last year. She has been a Calvary mom for ten years, with one son attending CCCS 4th through 12th grade, and another son entering his freshman year here at Calvary.  Mrs. Trejo's desire is for her students to come to know the Lord on a deep and personal level. 

Mr. Ralph Valdez

Mr. Valdez served CCCS for 10 years as part of our Daycare staff. He also taught Bible and Physical Education Classes and continues to assist with administrative functions. Mr. Valdez helps organize the Elementary Christmas play and the annual soccer tournament as well. He is blessed to have the opportunity to minister to the students. Mr. Valdez currently teaches Kindergarten through Third Grade Music.

Mrs. Mary Valuet

Mrs. Valuet holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and has taught in Christian schools for more than thirty years.  Mrs. Valuet has also earned the ACTS credential and the A.C.S.I. credential in Christian Education. She currently teaches one of our 1st Grade classes. In addition, she leads worship on Wednesdays during Elementary Chapel.  Mrs. Valuet loves teaching and serving the Lord Jesus Christ in the ministry of children’s education.

Ms. Deborah Velasco

Ms. Velasco earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies from California State University in Long Beach.  Ms. Velasco currently teaches 1st Grade and is the Master Teacher for Kindergarten and 1st Grade. She has served in the nursery at church, and has also been a part of the elementary worship team during our weekly chapels.  Ms. Velasco is currently serving CCCS on the Accreditation Team as well.

Mrs. Lisa Vukovich

Lisa Vukovich has received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills. In 2001, Lisa began ministering at CCCS as a substitute teacher. Since then, she has gone on to teach full time in Pre-K, 2nd Grade, and is currently teaching 3rd Grade. In addition to teaching, she also serves in a leadership roll as the Master Teacher for 2nd and 3rd Grade. Mrs. Vukovich adores her students and enjoys training them academically and spiritually in the ways of the Lord. 

Mrs. Michelle Weldon

Mrs. Michelle Weldon is one of our Third Grade teachers.  She joined the CCCS family as a volunteer assisting in the Calvary Support Program and was also a substitute teacher for both the Pre-School and our Elementary School.  Mrs. Weldon holds a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services as well as a certificate in Early Childhood Education. She desires to see her students excel academically and spiritually while sharing her love of the Lord and His Word with all her students.

Dr. Kristina Young-Goodner

Dr. Young-Goodner attended CCCS from K-12 before she went on to earn Bachelor of Music Degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education along with a California Teaching Credential from Biola  University. She also holds a Master’s in Education from Biola, as well as a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. In addition to being the Director of our Vocal Music Program, Dr. Young-Goodner functions as a Master Teacher for CCCS and Biola University, is an adjunct professor at Hope International University, is also a member of the WASC  accreditation agency, and currently fills the role of Vice-Principal in the High School.


Support Staff


Mrs. Lupe Jewell

Mrs. Jewell has been blessed to work at CCCS for 16-years. She began in the Lunchroom, and was later able to join the School Accounting Department as the Records and Admissions Clerk. Mrs. Jewell continues to serve our CCCS families while assisting the Elementary school parents and students in the office as well. Having her own 2 children attend CCCS from Kindergarten through 12th grade, Mrs. Jewell is grateful for the partnership she had with the school in raising her sons in the ways of the Lord.

Mrs. jennifer McCLintock

Mrs. McClintock considers herself blessed beyond measure to have the opportunity to work at the same school she attended. As an alumna, she knows full well the privilege it is to have been given a Christian education, and as a parent of 2 children who also attend CCCS, it is a tremendous blessing to have Calvary Chapel Christian School partner with her in training her children to honor the Lord in all they do. Mrs. McClintock served CCCS as a Pre-School teacher for 7 years and has also enjoyed spending the last 2 years ministering to the parents, students and teachers in her current role of Elementary Office Manager.

Mrs. Valerie Padilla

Mrs. Padilla, an Alumna of Calvary Chapel Christian School, has worked at CCCS for nineteen years. She has ministered in both the security and daycare departments, and has also helped serve the children as a teacher’s assistant in the Calvary Support Program. Mrs. Padilla currently serves CCCS as the Daycare supervisor. Her desire is for each child to grow and learn to walk in the ways of the Lord. Mrs. Padilla also enjoys serving in the Food for Funerals ministry at CCD as well.

Pastor Glen Valuet

Pastor V, our Elementary Pastor, has been a part of the CCCS family since 2001. For the past forty years, Pastor V. has served as a teacher, principal, and associate pastor. Prior to joining CCCS, he taught at Southern California Christian High School for sixteen years, and was the Principal at Brethren Christian Junior High School in La Mirada for three years. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Education, followed by a Master of Arts in Education. He also holds the Life-Time All Secondary Subjects Teachers & Principals Credential from both ACSI and ACTS.  Pastor V. continues to serve as "The Voice of the Grizzlies" at CCCS athletic events as well.  He has a heart to minister to our CCCS students and families too.


Mrs. Debbie Vierra

Mrs. Vierra has worked at Calvary Chapel Downey for 34 years. She began serving in the church office, and has since spent time in the high school office, the high school library and she has also spent the last 29 years ministering to parents and students alike in the elementary office.  Mrs. Vierra has been blessed to participate in the Children’s Ministry and Food for Funerals here at Calvary Chapel Downey.   Having enjoyed the blessing of having her own son attend CCCS, Mrs. Vierra’s heart and prayer is that the students and parents would all grow in the Lord and share His love with everyone!
